SA: Children flee shortly before murder suicide
Two children fled in fear shortly before their parents were shot dead in a murder-suicide
at a shopping centre carpark in Adelaide's south last night.
Police say a 45-year-old man from the eastern suburb of Burnside shot his estranged
wife in her car before turning the gun on himself in the carpark on Acre Avenue, Morphett
Vale, about 9pm yesterday.
A police spokeswoman says two boys, aged nine and 12, were with their mother when their
father, who had arrived at the scene separately, approached them.
The children ran to a nearby shop and raised the alarm.
It's believed the 45-year-old woman from the southern suburb of Christie Downs, and
the man had been divorced for about six years.
Both sustained a single gunshot wound to the head from a sawn-off rifle.
Police are trying to contact family members interstate while the children are being
cared for by friends.
