SA: Pedestrian dies in hospital

An 89-year-old man has died in hospital after being hit by a car in Adelaide's eastern
suburb of Stepney.

Police say the accident happened on Payneham Road about 10.30am (CST) yesterday and the man
died last night.

His death takes the road toll to 27 compared with 21 for the same time last year.

Meanwhile, a 52-year-old woman is in hospital with severe head injuries after the car in
which she was travelling hit two power poles at west suburban Ridleyton last night.

Police are appealing for witnesses who saw a metallic green Holden Commodore sedan hit the
power poles on South Road about 10pm (CST).
