TAS: Lennon arrives at Govt House over Butler crisis

Tasmanian Premier PAUL LENNON has arrived at Hobart's Government House for crisis talks
with Governor RICHARD BUTLER over his vice-regal future.

Mr BUTLER returned to Hobart from Sydney yesterday amid a political storm sparked by
the resignation of three senior staff during his two-week absence.

Allegedly caused by months of conflict at the vice-regal residence, the exodus has
spawned a flurry of reports in the local and national media claiming Mr BUTLER and his
wife JENNIFER have behaved badly during their 10 months at Government House.

Mr LENNON has pledged to ensure the propriety of the office of Governor is maintained
and is expected to issue a statement on Mr BUTLER'S future later tonight.
